I’d like to say a very big THANK YOU to every single person who has visited my Pledgemusic site and pre-ordered my new album ‘Out Of Sinc’.
We have all made it happen together and my target has been reached and exceeded with still a few days to run before the end of my campaign.
I’d also like to thank Pledgemusic for their support, especially Luke, my campaign manager. They all did a great job there !
I’m now putting the finishing touches to the tracks after which I’ll be heading off to the Mothership Studio in Kyoto to start the mixing process. At the end of that the album printed data along with the audio masters will be sent off for manufacture and we expect the finished product to arrive here at my home by the end of March next month.
Then I’ll be sending the new album plus all the extras out to you all over the world.
This new album is completely ‘Made In Japan’ and to celebrate that fact we will be launching, in the next few days, our brand new Homepage also in Japanese which we hope will include a few things of interest, including photos, for people outside Japan. It will also eventually be the shopping site for other albums and products of mine.
Also ‘made in Japan’ was the guitar which Andy Latimer used on my ‘Home Again’ track as I mentioned before. For guitar fans, the make is a Burny.
One more important person to thank is my ancestor JOHN BLOW, without whose influence I may have ended up as a chimney sweep !
Btw…… my mother’s maiden name was Blow.
Many thanks again for your support,
Bye for now,
50 YEARS AGO TODAY Richard Coughlan, Richard Sinclair and myself moved into a rented house in Whitstable, Kent at No. 7 Westgate Terrace.
Pye didn’t arrive for another few days because his family house in the Highlands of Scotland was completely cut off due to massive snow drifts.
After Pye eventually arrived we got on with the business of being Caravan. We sound-proofed my bedroom with fibreglass and stuck a mattress in the large window and practised together almost every day. We somehow managed to scrape together enough money for the rent and ate only one meal a day, mostly brown rice. That’s my big memory for today !
50 years on I’m working to finish my new album, ‘Out Of Sinc’ with Pledgemusic and I’m pleased to say that Pye is again playing guitar on one of the tracks !
I’m pleased to be able to say a few words about the new album I’m working on called ‘Out Of Sinc’ and hope you’ll share with me the excitement of it all as we head towards the final release date next Spring.
This Pledgemusic campaign has at last given me the chance to connect with a far wider audience than ever before.
Along with the other musicians involved my 50 years’ experience of writing and playing music are going into this new album which I believe will herald some of my best composition and keyboard solo work to date.
One track in particular over 17 minutes long incorporates most of the music genres that I love including Rock, Jazz, Blues, Choral, Pop, Folk and Classical. It’s climactic and powerful, and I wonder sometimes how it all manages to come through and out of me.
But thankfully out of me it does come, hence the title of the album ‘Out Of Sinc’.
Of course some of the music could also be ‘Out Of Sync’ but that’s because it’s being played by humans and not machines.
Another track is one I wrote, while in the band Matching Mole, which Robert Wyatt used to sing at live shows. It has never been recorded until now.
I’d like to invite you to share this journey with me through my musical life, and would be pleased if you’d support my campaign by pledging for one or more of the exclusive offers I have here on this site, from a simple album download to a meeting with me in Kyoto Japan.
By pledging you’ll also be able to check out the various updates and information including samples of the music I’ll be putting on this site.
This new album is certainly going to be a very memorable one for me, as I hope it will be for you too.
